Post-Secondary Transition Planning
I will take a strengths-based and child-centered approach to guiding your family on the path to finding the "right fit" program. I will take the time to learn about your child from you, your child, service providers, and educational reports. After learning as much as I can about your child, their strengths and challenges, and hopes and dreams, I will prepare a customized and annotated list of appropriate programs, based on my existing knowledge of programs and my additional research conducted on behalf of your child and their needs.

If supported college is the chosen path, we can work together to create goals to shore up academic or life skills in advance of attending. I can also help with all aspects of the application process itself, including the application essay and the process of applying for accommodations.

If a therapeutic, life skills, or vocational program is the chosen path, I can help support the application process, act as a liaison between the program and family, and make specific goals to shore up any skills in advance of attending.
Academic Tutoring and Custom English Classes
I have decades of experience as a high school English teacher, and over 5 years of experience tutoring high school and college students directly in their humanities coursework. I specialize in helping neurodivergent students and students struggling with mental health challenges. I know how to help a student break down overwhelming and intimidating assignments step-by-step so the student has direction to move forward independently. I know how to put an anxious student at ease, to teach a writing process that will work for each student, and I know how to build confidence. My goal with tutoring is to 'put myself out of business,' because I've taught the student the tools they will need to be independent. Please see testimonial section for parent references.

I also create custom English classes for students who are in-between schools so they can keep up their academic skills and intellectual engagement. I've created classes for high school students who are in-between schools because one did not work out, I've created classes for high school graduates on a GAP year who want to keep up or shore up their academic skills before college, and I've created classes for international students getting ready to attend an American boarding school. I love that I can still wear my "English Teacher Hat" in these circumstances. With 1:1 attention for comprehension, discussion, and writing, students make rapid progress in only a few months.

Executive Function Coaching
I weave executive functioning into my academic tutoring in terms of teaching how to plan for and approach challenging assignments. I can also focus more exclusively on executive functioning, for example, with regards to calendar planning, self-awareness and self-advocacy, and study skills. I can also help students look for internships, which can be an overwhelming task that is made smoother with organization and planning.
